In 2009, Italy will increase the number of transportation permits for Belarusian trucking companies. Such agreement was reached during a session of the Belarusian-Italian joint commission for international highway service in Minsk, Sergei Negrei, head of the foreign and economic activity department of the Belarusian Ministry of Transport and Communications, told.
Such Belarusian-Italian sessions are held annually. The Italian side is a strategic partner of Belarus on the market of the international road transportations, Sergei Negrei noted. During the meeting, the sides discussed the increase in number of trips of Belarusian carriers to Italy. The Italian side has agreed to issue additional 1,000 permits to Belarusian trucking companies.
According to Sergei Negrei, the sides have agreed to continue cooperation in expansion of geography of trips of Belarusian carriers from Italy to/from third countries. The Belarusian side has expressed gratitude to the Italian Embassy for the hard work in 2008: the Embassy started to issue half-year visas for Belarusian drivers.
Belarusian carriers make around 6,000 trips to Italy annually.
